The Good Friday Pilgrimage Walk 2008
The start...

One of the services. This one at Denton Church...

The survivors at the finish...still smiling after 15 miles of mud, biting winds and driving rain!

As always this years Good Friday PIlgrimage walk around our benefice was a mixture of good fellowhip, reflective services and hard slog!
The wooden cross was carried from Alburgh church by road to Denton church and chapel, across fields and abandoned airfield roads to Hedenham church , across muddy swamps to Ditchingham church, by slightly less muddy roads to Broome church and finally across Broome common and through Bungay to Earsham church.
Hopefully those who encountered us might have wondered why a group of people dressed like arctic explorers were carrying a wooden cross around and maybe, just maybe, remembered a story about a man who dragged a wooden cross on his back to his place of execution many years ago.
At each church we reflected on the journey Jesus made to the Cross. Our aches and pains during and after the walk were so small compared to the enormity of suffering Jesus undertook to win our freedom.
Despite the rather dismal weather conditions we all remained warm inside, not least due to the fact that we were treated to a wonderful range of homemade cakes, scones, soup and other delicacies along the route. A huge thank you to all who provided us with a welcome cup of tea and some nosh!
And I've no doubt that Jesus was walking along with us in the mud and rain on this Good Friday Pilgrimage walk!
